Gorkha Jana Pustakalay is a welfare society that is working on Nepali culture and tradition since before independence. We organized a gazal talk and other Nepali cultural programs. Gazal is one of the most sweetest thing of Nepali religion. We want to give this art a very big platform where this traditional art will get a worldwide level. Talking about cultural matters is very helpful for our young generation to know about our culture and history.
Gorkha Public Library Book Fair and Program
We all know that books are a great way to communicate with people. Gorkha Jana Pustakalay always participates in book fairs. Here we promote our culture and our mother tongue. There are many poets and writers who are not yet recognized enough in our language. We want to create a huge platform for them by which we can connect our new generation with our literature and novels. We want to spread our culture worldwide and we are committed to that.
73th Shivakumar Rai Birth Anniversary Celebrations
Shiva Kumar Rai (1919-1995) was a Nepali language writer and politician from Darjeeling. The ceremony began with the lighting of lamps and the laying of wreaths on the portraits of the great writer Shivakumar Rai. Welcoming remarks were made by the stage coordinator and the head of the organization. Participants in the program gave lectures on the development of Nepali literature and students from different schools participated in quiz competitions and poetry recitations.
